Why is teenage pregnancy rate much higher in the US than it is in Europe?

I don't want you to agree or disagree, it's fact, but tell me why you think it is suchWhy is teenage pregnancy rate much higher in the US than it is in Europe?
I am going to get thumbs down, but: It's the Mexicans. They are all Catholic.Why is teenage pregnancy rate much higher in the US than it is in Europe?
It's because there's no sex ed in America. Kids don't know about birth control or about stds. Teens in America are so misinformed about sex it's shocking.





A recent study came out that teens are having higher rates of anal sex, many think it isn't ';real'; sex and are therefore they are still virgins. That study also showed that many of those teens aren't using condoms, why bother if you can't get pregnant from anal sex?





There is so much proof out there that abstinence only ';education'; doesn't work. A Recent study has shown that Evangelical Christian communities (the same groups who are pushing abstinence only ';education';) have the highest rates of sexually active teens and teen pregnancy rates. Because when those inevitably teens start having sex they don't have the necessary information and access to birth control.
Are you speaking of babies born to unwed and/or teenage mothers, or just the birth rate of babies born to teenagers?


Many American parents bury their heads in the sand, so to speak, about sex education. Americans do not have a realistic view of sexual activity by minors. They don't want sex education in the public schools, yet they expect their kids to abstain.


The fact of the matter is that once a person has had sex, they are not going to stop regardless of their age or circumstance. Education about sex, birth control and std's must be available, but too many of the public do not want this to happen because they think it encourages sexual activity. They don't understand that morals are no match for raging hormones, no matter how well intentioned they may be.


Another problem is that couples who are in a lower income strata do not get married because they are either unemployed or employed where their insurance is inadequate or they have no insurance at all. They apply for medicaid and we, the taxpayers pay for it. This way they can have their families and get the government to pay their medical bills and supply them with services such as WIC. Our government is, in effect encourging unwed pregnancies. The past administration has not allowed monies to go to agencies that promote birth control for unmarried or underage women here in the U.S. or the rest of the world.


As for the Hispanic population, they are predominately Catholic and do have many children, and many of them are born to teenage mothers. However, if these girls get pregnant out of wedlock, most of them get married before the baby is born and the father is involved.


Many teenage girls get pregnant on purpose so they can use the pregnancy to manipulate a relationship with the baby daddy, usually without the desired results.


Overall, this is a situation born out of ignorance on the part of our government and our citizens.
In America we are taught sex is a mysterious nasty thing.


We are told our entire formative years not to do it.


We are not taught about protection.


We are taught abstinence.





Young people are curious and want to find out what this thing is they are kept from.





What is this forbidden fruit like.





We also have freedoms others don't enjoy.


My 15 year old son wanders off at 7:45am.


I may see him before 11:00pm.


Not very often though.


He has school activities. he is in band and drill team and winter guard.


The kids ride in cars and eat after practice and then look at the stars or whatever.





I make sure he has condoms.


Fathering a child in America means 50% of your income will be taken away for 18 years by the government.


You want half pay get someone pregnant I tell him.


Go do it it is your future you screw up not mine.


He hasn't done it yet. He is more afraid of loosing money.





If we were truthful and educated our children we would not have so many pregnancies.





America runs on money.


The schools get money to teach what the government wants them to teach. When the government wants to talk about protection things will change.
Because parents here doesn't believe in discipline anymore and let their children run wild and do what ever they want to get them off their backs!! Because the USA is the land of ';freedom';... or if the parents do try to discipline the children, they just call CPS on them saying that their parents are abusing them!! Kids these days just needs a REALLY GOOD BUTT BUSTING!!!!!
Because european teens are much smarter and use birth control, and have sex when their a little older..U.S teens are stupid, they start having sex at 13 and do it with multiple partners without anytype of birth control..thats why U.S also has the highest rate of STD´s and AIDS.
Because our teens are not properly educated on sex and birth control. most schools teach sex education with only an emphasis on abstinence and not prevention. Sexuality and birth control are Taboo still in many schools across America. So my answer would be ignorance.
Because we're 2 totally different countries. 2 Different cultures. It's the same as, why are other countries more poverished than the US? Because we're different countries.
Europeans have certain beleifs about that
