My three friends and I are being TMNTs for Halloween. We were thinking about using circle sleds for our shells.. any suggestions?Any suggestions for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume?
I made my son a TMNT costume and I used felt. It's inexpensive. I made 2 circles of felt and sewed them together and then stuffed it so it would look like a shell. I drew shell designs with a black marker. Then I got another piece of felt in a brownish tan color and made the front so it just slipped over his head. I used a black marker on that to make the 6 pack abs. He wore a green sweat suit underneath, a headband and we made his face geen with make up.

I think its just more open..in the sense that more teenagers are keeping there baby instead of killing it. Actually, that's not entirely true. There may have been teenage pregnancies but there weren't nearly as many and there were far fewer abortions before Roe V. Wade (even secret illegal abortions). After abortions became legal there was a huge jump in the number being performed. Since then there has been a gradual decline. You're right though that most teen pregnancies in the past were hidden or at least not openly talked about. People would send their daughter's ';away'; until the baby was born or they'd do a lot of shotgun weddings. Teenage pregnancy isn't new but it is definately a problem for society. It's a problem economically mostly.
It isn't a new thing, but thanks to the media and many more things thats the way life is now. Are you telling me you have never made a mistake? Teenagers are young and silly, No clue how their actions are going to effect others... resulting in teenage pregnancy. If a teenage mother does not feel capable of raising a child properly then I don't see why there is something wrong with having an abortion (If the mother does not want to adopt the child out), She is clearly doing the baby a favour. And I don't personally look down upon teenage mothers who have been responsible and are raising their children, But if i feel the child is being neglected, or anything else then of course it will be looked down upon.
What are you talking about? My grandmother had two kids by the time she was 16. My great-grandma was married at 14. And this wasn't that long ago. At one point teenage marriages/pregnancies were the norm. You were a spinster practically if you were in your twenties and childless.





Before it was because they were unmarried, not because they were pregnant that there was a stigma. And abortions weren't kept track of until after Roe Vs Wade. So there is no way to tell if more women in the past had abortions compared to women today, regardless of age.





Now teenagers who have children are looked down upon because all of them have so many more options then that. Everyone knows how a baby is made, whereas before the sexual revolution not many women did. They're taking their education and opportunities for granted.
I have to say that the media has glorified pregnancy. There are a slew of unwed young mothers in Hollywood who say ';I live for my baby.'; Teenagers see this and they think ';I want that too.';





Some teens also think that making a new family will get rid of all of the problems in their family. They think that if they get pregnant, their boyfriend is obligated to be there (which isn't the case).





But NINA M hit it on the nose. It's so easy for teens to get pregnant and then go on welfare and qualify for a free check every month, daycare and WIC. That's not taking responsibility. That's getting caught up in the hype and having innocent taxpayers pay for them and their baby's expenses.





BEING RESPONSIBLE IS NOT HAVING SEX UNTIL YOU'RE READY TO ACTUALLY TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. BEING RESPONSIBLE IS TAKING A FEW DOLLARS OUT OF YOUR ALLOWANCE TO BUY CONDOMS!
I hate it when people look down upon teenage mothers (including myself) Maybe some have babies for money and stupid reasons but so do older women. Some teenage mothers look after their child(ren) better than their own mother looked after them or any 30yr old mother takes care of theirs. My daughter is well looked after, well dressed and fed, always uses her manners and has never been sick and she is almost 3. Here is a point I would like to make also to prove that older women are just so unfair. My daughter was born with a abnormality called Polydactyly (extra fingers or toes) in her case she had a normal thumb with 2 tips on her right hand. She had this operated on at 14 months of age and had to have a full cast on for 6 weeks. The number of 30-60 year old women coming up to me saying things like ';it only takes a second for disaster when u take your eyes of them'; and ';did she fall down the stairs'; was absolutely ridiculous. I would calmly explain that no she did not fall down the stairs she actually had an abnormality that was corrected but after 4 or so weeks of those comments putting her cast down to me being a bad teenage mother I wasn't so calm in answering as I think was understandable. I myself am with the father have been for 7yrs all up and have never received any type of welfare payments and also take better care of my girl than my mother took care of me.
I don't think they do think It is a new thing, If you think that years ago many people got married when they were still teenagers. It isn't a new thing, but it is on the increase.





I think the difference is that years ago people got married and with their families help they were expected to support themselves, on top of that it was more likely that sex would result in unwanted pregnancies, as there was not the contraception available today, nor the education available to teenagers today.





I am obviously not talking about those teenagers that have made the decision to start a family, in steady relationships, can support themselves etc etc. but it is just more of an issue today due to the burden on society for those that rely on the state to support and the fact that education is obviously not working to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

The reason the teens keep the baby in most cases is because they get money, free houses etc thrown at them. The government makes it easier for them. ';Killing it'; is harsh. In the old days society used to frown upon single mums and these women were destitute, in many circumstances it would be better for the child if it wasnt born. Some mums were sent to stay with aunts or in homes until they had the babies which were then taken away from them and given up for adoption. How are teenagers being responsible? If they were being responsible they wouldnt get pregnant in the first place. Show me a teenager parent who isnt on benefits (unless they have incredibly rich parents) and I will eat my hat. Its us hard working taxpayers who are paying for these so called responsible teens.

When I'm bored I play a computer game, read a book or magazine, do crossword puzzles or sudoku, listen to music, watch a movie, write in a journal or answer questions here on yahoo answers. If she finds herself bored often she might consider volunteering. It will give her a new focus in her life, and it is a good feeling to help someone less fortunate. Yeah so pretty much everyone thinks like this. I'm 16 I think like that. lol. I'm just one of the few that kinda steps back and thinks about it. I think... Well it can only be the best four years of your life if you let it be. It's not all going to be fun and games because, well - it's school. When you're 16 you are most likely a junior and school can really be stressful then with the college application process, getting prepared for college, and just realizing that you only have a good one or two years left at home until going out on your own. (of course that's easier for some than others). Maybe her negativity is from stress from one of those sources.





Sure the activities and just the actualization you're almost an adult, and being a teenager itself is just exciting. If she likes a guy, though, any at all tell her to take a risk and go for it. Sure, it may not happen but there is still a good chance it might. There's a lot of learning experiences that high school has to offer and one of them is taking the things you have there for granted, don't let her be one to regret not doing what she really wanted by staying in the background and not having the most fun she possibly could.





High school is definitely a great experience and your final years of spending time with those who you've practically grown up with so let her know that know that she's in her upperclassman years time is almost up so you can either keep looking down upon it, or just make the best of it.

It is pretty hard to do anything when you have no money at all. If it were $100 or less, then go to www.domestications.com and you can find some lovely things that are grown up and sophisticated. There is a lovely gray and black that is very sophisticatedin a bed in a bag - about $59 plus tax and shipping but you'd need drapes or to have white curtains. You can go to thrift stores and get thngs or you may have a friend go with you to cruise in nice part of town night before garbage day and find things others throw away that can be used. I have a neighbor who found new cabinets someone didn't like, and tables, etc. A little metal garden table and a couple of chairs will dress up a bedroom and ou can sand and paint the table for little money. I hope your walls are a neutral color like white or cream as those are sophisticated colors. You can get prints and frame them or put them up. You can sometimes find prints in Dollar stores or at flea markets or garage sales. You could use a desk in the bedroom for homework and also a makeup station. I found some swag sort of sheers for a window treatment - with little plastic beads on them and was able to drape them over a window and it hangs down a bit in a swag at the window and then lays down the sides like a jabot and they were very inepensive and look rather elegant. I think I may have gotten them from www..collections.com





Good luck to you. It is hard when you have no money and particularly if you can't paint the walls. I'd rather decorate the room than paint the walls a color, but have to have a bit of money. Maybe it's none of my business, but I know there's a growing number of families that allow teens to drive their kids to activities (ex: football practice). I feel this is unsafe.Would you trust a teenage babysitter to drive your children?
lol I just had a new baby. The other day I was just thinking of how scary it is that there are teen drivers on the same roads I drive on with my precious babies! Personally, I don't want them even driving NEAR a car with my kids in it.....let alone them driving my kids in their car! SCARY!!Would you trust a teenage babysitter to drive your children?
What about the teenagers that have kids? Should the 16 year old mother get someone else to drive? It honestly depends on the skill level and maturity of the driver. I babysat my neighbor's kids and took them places when I was 15 or 16. If you're safe, make sure everyone wears seatbelts, turn off the radio, pay attention, etc, then a 16 or 17 year old with some experience is just fine behind the wheel.

Well, there have been several studies on teen pregnancy.


Here, I will explain about caused teen pregnancy (aka a girl getting pregnant on purpose).


Most believe that (emotionally) the girl needs love. She feels lost, hopeless, and lonely. And (while she goes through her lonely teen life) her hormones kick in. She begins to mature (physically) and she develops a ';mothers instinct.';


Its ironic really. Right when the girl is at her lowest, her instincts kick in (because of her hormones). Most girls feel that a baby will give them unconditional love. They want to feel the baby kick, they want to give birth. They want to hold their OWN child (rather than a little cousin or sibling). And since teen pregnancy is such a controversial issue (and the girl knows this) she wants to get pregnant even MORE. Reason? She is lonely and sad. She wants to be controversial. She wants her families attention. She wants her friends attention. She actually WANTS people to look!





Hormones...ahh! We go from kissing to sex in an average of 3 years (first kiss at 11, have sex when your 14). Those are some horrible numbers, but they are true in many parts of the world. Including right here in Canada, and all over the USA.

Well, I think it's always great to go through with self expression; so if you want the snakebites, get them. However, it is smart of you to realize there are repercussions to having obvious body modification, such as certain piercings or prominent tattoos.


But, you could probably get a more discreet type of jewelry in your snakebites... rather than the sort that would attract a lot of attention. Of course, it's your choice though! So, you'll have to decide if you're prepared with any sort of difficulties that might arise when you're looking for a job because of your appearance.

If you don't like it then you can always take them out and if you didn't have them done then you'd always be wondering what it would of been like if you had of had them done. You can always try sticking some small labret balls in the places with a little bit of sellotape or glue and step back a bit and see what you think - its what I did to see what dimple piercings would look like.


When they've healed properly you can put labret retainers or balls in/on them which are plastic and clear and its what I used when I was at school and you can also do that in jobs, etc. or you can just take the balls off the tops and leave the labret in or take them out altogether temporarily.

Hullo :) It all depends on what kind of job you want, but most of employers don't like piercings, tatoos etc.... so they might ask you to take them off or they'll just turn you down. And if you want to be a baby-sitter (or something like that) it might scare the parents away.

Yes high school girls are incredibly naive and will fall for it. It's not such a bad thing, they'll feel wanted when a guy puts in that much effort to let them know he really likes them. A good one is The Raging Quiet by Sherryl Jordan. It involves a woman named Marnie getting married to an older man to save her family from poverty in the beginning. They move to a small town by the ocean and only three days after being married to her husband he dies. The town blames Marnie and some believe her to be a witch but she stays in the town and befriends the town's outcast, a deaf boy she calls Raven. They befriend one another, Marnie helps to teach him sign language, and they both fall in love. It's a beautiful and delightful read that will make you think about those who are your true friends and those you love, no matter what kind of person they are.

it's difficult for me to say in terms of pounds, because i'm from the US... but, i'd say due to just starting out, and the fact that your target audience would be young, you'd probably be able to get around 1/2 of what a professional (adult) local club/party band would get....





in my case, our band gets a *minimum* of $600 per show....and there are five of us, and there are costs, of course, so we only get to keep $100 of it a piece (but it's ';tax-free';! ; )....that's for 4 hours with breaks, btw....





however, we often are able to charge more - about *twice* that during peak summer dates....





when you start getting asked to be booked somewhat regularly, then you know it's time to jack the prices!

Today i accidentally parked in a handicap spot (i didn't see the design on the ground because there was no sign in front of the space). So i got a ticket for parking in a handicapped space. Does that ticket count against me? will it increase my insurance rates? Will i have to go to traffic school again or whatever? While there are lots of nice beaches and fun cities to go and explore, you can probably find that in your own country. Take a trip into the outback, go visit Alice Springs, Kakadu National park, Uluru (Ayres Rock) and get to see something you will not experience anywhere else in the world.

If you are coming to Queensland at any time of the year the Gold Coast/Brisbane/Sunshine Coast area would have more than enough for you to do.





At the Sunshine Coast is Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin - Croc Hunter) which is an awesome place and your parents will enjoy too. About $50 Aussie dollars which is good value. Also up there is Underwater world another animal place. Not sure of price but your parents would enjoy it too. Out of those two I prefer Aust Zoo but Underwater world is great too. At the Sunshine Coast there are heaps of great beaches and Sunshine Plaza at Maroochydore is a great shopping mall. The Sunshine Coast is more reasonably priced than the Gold Coast. Maroochydore and Alexandra Headlands are my favourite areas.





Brisbane is pretty cool but is like any other city and I think Sydney and Melbourne would probably have better shopping although they are heaps dearer.





The Gold Coast is an Amusement Park lovers heaven. Dreamworld (heaps of great rides and some animal attractions) Seaworld (some rides and lots of animal shows), Movieworld (lots of rides and movie based shows) Wet and Wild (waterslide place) and Dreamworld Waterworld (more waterslides and that isn't its exact name but it is next to Dreamworld) are all great but expensive and it can be depressing going on rides by yourself if you are into them but your parents aren't. Gold Coast also has an Australian Outback Spectacular this horse stage show type thing near Movieworld which is worth seeing. You can get passes to several of the above that make it somewhat cheaper. Gold Coast also has lots of shopping and beaches. I love Surfer's Paradise if you want to be in the thick of it.





Other places in Queensland are Great Keppel Island if you want to enjoy the beach and a bit more relaxing. Fraser Island if you are into fishing and Four wheel driving.

Girls also get small back ackes cause the ovaries and reproductive organs are still developing. Walking ,exercising, swimming are very beneficial at this age to make the whole body stronger. A good diet is extremely inportant and so a good family atmosphere. Very good question

If your new room is small, I would go with a lighter shade of purple or blue because dark colors make rooms seem smaller. If you have a pretty big sized room, you could probably get away with a darker shade. I just finished painting my room dark purple, black, and white stripes, so I know what your feeling.

My mom cleaned me up in the middle night, cleaned my mattress and moved me to another bed. I was so hung over in the morning. My mom said ';Thanks for calling me to come get you, last night.'; and my dad said ';I bet you'll never drink again..';





Oh, if it were MY child.. I would cry hysterically. Throw one of my psycho fits where i yell babble and deny it all to myself. Straighten myself up and clean the mess.. put my child to bed and ground them indefinitely.
i would stay calm.


teach him/her a lesson and have him/her clean up themselves, the bed, carpet whatever!


i wouldnt fus and would have them suffer the hangover, if they need food/water/painkillers to get over the hangover they have to get it.





i wouldnt give them a full blown lecture, but would tell them that there is a reason there is age limits on drinking and that they feel like that because their young bodys cant handle it and they havent found/dont know their limits.





if you give them a big whoha about not drinking it will become more tempthing for them, all kids try it and most do go way over their limits, but if you go too mad they wont listen and if you mollycoddle them too much they will know that next time you will look after them, so it doesnt matter!
honestly..i hope i never find that to be the situation..BUT (guess i am shouting here, lol) if htat were to happen....i would be thankful he was okay and didnt choke and die fromhis puke and didnt die of alcohol poisening.....THEN, i would make HIM clean it up...have him take a cold shower..then we would be having a serious talk about why and what possibly made him do that...and be very detailed on how that was such a bad decision to make...i would also discuss with him and want to know how he got home..and what a bad decision it was to drink and drive or get in a car with someone who was drinking and driving.....i would then find a just punishment...
lol, i have a teenager, and a preteen...(and 2 toddlers).





he'd be in a WORLD of hurt, he'd be doing yardwork all day, hangover and all.


He'd be grounded for good while, and i'd make him attend a class about substance abuse. it's not the end of the world...but he needs to know how serious that is. I don't want my 13 y/o abusing alcohol!! I don't think i'd be so hard on him if he was say...17 or 18, he'd still be in trouble tough.





I'd also want the name of the friend that brought him home (since he's only 13 and doesn't have a car or a licence yet.)





I'd be making a phone call to that child's parents to notify them of what happened, and see if their kid was also hung over.
I would feel that this is a parenting problem. Where was the parent when this teenager came home drunk in first place? I wouldn't blame the teen..i would blame the parent.





But I guess stuff happens...and I would sit down and have a long talk with him/her. This is a serious issue that would need to be discussed. I think a big problem most parents have is that they would get mad. And punish them. I don't think this is the answer. Talk it out ! Why do they feel the need to drink? Who were they with??

Let him/her lie in it. When they woke up they could clean it up themselves, wash the bedding, etc. Then, hopefully still with a hangover, I'd ask them what the hell they were thinking and then take the punishment from there. Maybe do what some do with cigarettes. Make them sit there and smoke a whole pack one after another. I'd think of something creative.
Um if this was true ummm.. ew covered in pukkkeee!!! yucky! Anyway he should have just layed on his sideee dduuhh.


But I would so ground him from parties for a while , unless he is to old for that. Haha I would embaress him by making him watch video of bad ppl drinking and how they end up.
I'd wake them up, make sure they were ';okay';, make them get UP, clean UP, shower, and then they could sit down and explain why they did something so ridiculous, and then enjoy having no life, due to being grounded for ___ amount of time.
Be damned glad that they hadn't succumbed to alcohol poisoning.





Then have little sympathy for the hangover from hell they are experiencing as they clean themselves and the room up.

I would like to say that my child would never do that....but I am not naive either. I would kick my child's butt, then make him/her clean up their own puke cause I ain't cleaning it up and then I would make them a great greasy breakfast!

but if I were the teen I would feel extremely grossed out and I would feel... embarrassed I guess. But as a normal teen I would try to act like I didnt care, when deep down inside I feel like a dumbass :) lol
well. at least he wasnt driving and at least it was in my house. i would be pissed off but i wouldnt act like it was the end of the world. teens so stupid stuff, they experiment. no need to fly off the handle
I would make them get up, tell them to clean themselves up, tell them good luck with their hangover and they were grounded for __ amount of weeks/months. i would be too livid to say anything without screaming.
Capitals are percieved a shouting. Anyway I would totally ground him or her. But for starters I would teach them not to drink in the first place.

Id tell them to clean themselves up and learn not to drink so much
